Easily grown in still water. Full sun is best, but plants will flower with as little as 3 hours of sun per day. Plant rhizomes horizontally, with bud end up in mud at the bottom of a pond or water garden where water is 45cm - 75cm deep. If planted in containers anchored in the muddy bottom, plants may be more easily moved later on if desired. Rhizomes will overwinter without difficulty as long as the water does not freeze to the bottom. This is a hardy waterlily, and is typically grown in ponds or other water gardens. Rounded, greenish leaves that float on the surface are mottled with copper. The large, cup-shaped,canary yellow flowers appear on, or just above the water surface during summer. Each flower blooms for about 5 days, opening in the morning and closing at night.
